Welcome...

Hello

I'm Paul Fairclough presenter of the Signal 2 Home Run.

In May 2010 I started to lose weight so I could have the gastric bypass operation. After hearing about Hypnoband, I decided to try this route and be hypnotised in to thinking I have the gastric band.

On this site you'll see my progress, together with help and advice which may assist you if your trying to lose weight. You can even contact me via the site or leave a message on the forum. You can also follow progress monthly in the Sentinel Newspapers Sentinelle section.

Obesity Surgery on the NHS

Weight loss surgery on the NHS is only available if your obesity is affecting your health and other treatment options have been tried and not worked. You will probably only be able to receive weight loss surgery on the NHS if;

Your BMI should be 40 or higher and a serious health condition like type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. You must also attend a weight management clinic and have failed to maintain a beneficial level of weight loss for at least six months.

You agree to commit to the need for long term follow up treatment at a specialised clinic. You also must be fit and healthy enough to withstand the anaesthetic.

There are many different types of weight loss surgery including Gastric Ban, Gastric Bypass, Bilopancreatic diversion, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Intra-Gastric Balloon. Whilst there are a number of surgical routes and its considered an effective way to treat obesity, it does carry some serious risks and the decision is not one to take lightly.
